Information |
Bordeaux Zergev (ボルドー・ツェルゲフ) is a member of the Council of Wise Men and the former Commander of the Zergev Squadron. He played a supporting role in the Sword Demon Trilogy and The Travelogue of the Finest.
Appearance[]
Bordeaux is an old bald man with wrinkles and big blue eyebrows. He wears a purple outfit used by the Council of Wise Men with a long coat. Four decades before the start of the main story, Bordeaux was a tall, muscular, and somewhat frightening man, usually donned in heavy iron armor. He had short, spiky light blue hair, and equally thick, blue eyebrows. His eyes radiated a strong fighting spirit.
Personality[]
He is an honest, frank, and direct sage who does not hesitate to speak his mind. According to Marcos Gildark, he is well known for his demi-human prejudice in the Royal Capital. In his younger days during the war when he was the captain of the Zergev Squadron, he was a far more jovial person and did not have such a negative view of demi-humans. However, this changed when a close friend of his, Pivot Arnancy, was killed during the Demi-Human War. This changed his life, eroding away much of the once free-spirited man and replacing him with a much more wary and stern figure.
History[]
Bordeaux participated in the Demi-Human War 40 years ago. Back then he was Wilhelm and Grimm's commanding officer who led them through many successful campaigns and battles. However, at Battle of Aihiya Swamp, tragedy struck the Zergev Squadron. In the ambush, most of the squad, including Deputy Commander, Pivot Arnancy, were killed and resurrected as Corpse Soldiers which were then ordered to attack the remaining survivors by Sphinx. Bordeaux, nearly half mad and in grief, was forced to slaughter his old comrades and put them to rest. Following this battle, he started to develop prejudices toward demi-humans, viewing them as dishonorable cowards who wouldn't hesitate to even use the dead of both ally and foe alike for their gain.
Years later, he participated in the events against Stride Vollachia. After their triumph, Bordeaux retired from the army and stepped into the political world. He also became a teacher of some kind and had several students, including Marcos Gildark and Heinkel Astrea.
During Ferris's magic training days in the Royal Capital, Bordeaux did not like Ferris' presence in the training grounds initially, even suggesting to Fourier Lugunica to cut ties with the demi-human from the Argyles. Fourier took this opportunity to impose himself to Bordeaux, saying that he would choose those he would have ties with by himself and that Bordeaux should let go of his demi-human prejudice.
Abilities[]
Military Prowess: In his younger days, Bordeaux was one of the strongest knights of the Dragon Kingdom of Lugunica, leading an elite squad named Zergev Squadron, acting as its commander until he gave the command to Wilhelm van Astrea in the months following the end of the Demi-Human War. Throughout the final two years of the war, Bordeaux led the squadron into numerous battles, even acting as the Sword Saint's support. His achievements with the squad eventually led them to becoming the most elite unit within the Kingdom's military.
Equipment: Bordeaux's weapon of choice in his youth was a halberd.
Trivia[]
- After the Demi-Human War, Bordeaux once expressed a desire to create an organization called the Six Tongues, named after Orphe's epithet.[1] Around the same time, a defense organization known as the Six Tongues, directed by Orphe, was secretly created to defend the Kingdom of Lugunica from within.
