Information |
Gustav Morello (グスタフ・モレロ) is the former viceroy and Island Chief of the Gladiator Island Ginunhive. He made his debut in Arc 7, and both in Arc 7 and Arc 8, he played a supporting role as an advisor of sorts for the Pleiades Battalion. Following the Great Disaster, Gustav was promoted to a position that would keep him situated in Lupugana.
Appearance[]
As a member of the Multi-Arm Clan, Gustav bears blue skin, black eyes, and white hair in addition to the thick muscles, four arms, and towering height as is typical for his clan. He wears a dark grey uniform which is worn by others on Ginunhive and bears an armband with the symbol of the Empire on his left arm.
Personality[]
Gustav is an intelligent man who strives to be honest and transparent over being deceitful. Unlike his kin, who were predisposed to violence, he detests warfare, is nonviolent, and fears that his death will bring about nothing. He is fiercely loyal and grateful to Vincent Vollachia for his personality rather than his position, causing Gustav to not tolerate disrespect towards the emperor. Befitting of his position, he enforces order and fairness at Ginunhive to fit his assignment of training the minds and bodies to use Ginunhive's gladiators in case if an emergency were to plague the Empire.
History[]
In the past, Gustav resided at the Multi-Arm Clan's homeland, where he read books, raised livestock, and protected the homes. He was viewed as a coward, for the other men of his tribe all sought valor in combat due to the legacy of the legendary Eight-Arms Kurgan. This path led to Gustav's grandfather, father, siblings, and friends dying for naught whilst sparring with others across the Empire. The tribespeople of the Multi-Arm Clan increased their harsh treatment towards Gustav, as in their eyes, the one whom they perceived as a coward remained alive while their loved ones had all perished. On one fateful day, “bandits” who had believed all of the tribe's men were slain chose to assault the village. Its houses were burned, belongings were pilfered, women and children were killed for sport, and the tribespeople could do nothing to stop it. Gustav decided to spar with the “bandits” on his own, despite not having the strength to stand a chance against them. Just as he was about to lose his head, the Blue Lightning saved his life.
After Gustav's life was saved, he was approached by the emperor of Vollachia, who questioned his beliefs and shared in them. The ringleader of the attack, a local feudal lord that had his private army dress up as bandits to eliminate the Multi-Arm Tribe, was arrested, and Gustav was chosen to decide his fate. Sensing that the lord was frightened of death, Gustav levied hard labor unto the man instead of death, much to the dissatisfaction of his living tribespeople. However, Gustav's dignity was recognized, and the emperor offered patronage to him. Over time, he carried out his duties and increased his court rank, and on the day he became a High Count, the emperor gave Gustav the order to work as the viceroy of Gladiator Island Ginunhive. From then on, he began serving his newfound position as the Island Chief honestly, and under Gustav's leadership, the Gladiator Island would be remade from its previous lawlessness into a more orderly place where there were less unnecessary deaths.
Abilities[]
Equipment: Gustav has wielded a large shield that he has used in tandem with his arms in order to block strong blows. He also has a curse tool, created by Groovy Gumlet, embedded in his body that was originally used to curse everyone residing on the Gladiator Island, and anyone cursed by it who left its range would lose their life.
