Appearance[]
Gwain is a scrawny man who is unconcerned with maintaining appearances. He has long, light-brown hair, an unshaven beard, and a face that could cause him to be mistaken for a woman, if he would shave his chin.
Personality[]
Gwain is a man of great tolerance with a keen intuition. When he was younger, he had a more aggressive attitude that was influenced by his circumstances.
History[]
Once Upon a Time in Lugunica II[]
Gwain was born as a werewolf by the name of Alagar (アラガル, Aragaru). Due to his lineage, he faced peril from Vollachia's policy of executing all people of wolf human descent. He came under the service of Galahau Dracroy and was tasked with assassinating his daughter, Serena Dracroy, along with three other assassins. While a fugitive, Alagar singlehandedly managed to vanquish an entire fortress and escaped to Lugunica's Royal Capital, where he was subjugated by Marcos Gildark. An emissary from the Empire, Serena, was sent to retrieve Alagar and bring him to certain death. However, the group transporting Alagar to Vollachia was ambushed by the other assassins sent to kill Serena. Quickly deducing that Alagar was one of the assassins, Serena made an offer to aid him in faking his death and continue surviving if he chose to spare her life and stop working with Galahau, to which he accepted, making a promise with her and later Roswaal to not use his Beastification again.[1] After the incident, Alagar took on the name of his dead father, Gwain, and was employed by the Fellow family.
The Three Idiots Set Out! Cursed Goddess Statue Episode[]
In the years following his employment to the Fellow family, Gwain managed to become a representative of Lugunica's Chamber of Commerce. He began to hold lavish auctions for the wealthy to acquire rare items, such as meteors. One night, when holding an auction attended by a crossdressing trio of Subaru, Otto, and Garfiel, some of the items were stolen. The case was eventually solved, and in the end, Clind managed to retrieve a statue missing from Gwain's inventory for Roswaal.
Petra's Emilia Camp Struggle[]
During the events of Arc 5, Gwain took part in the Western Margrave Domain Meeting.
Abilities[]
Divine Protection (加護, Kago): As a half-wolf human, Gwain possesses the Divine Protection of Ambushing (騙し討ちの加護, Damashiuchi no Kago). Although its exact effects are unknown, it enables werewolves to be difficult to find by other people.
Beastification (獣化, Kemonoka): As a halfbeast of half-wolf human lineage, Gwain has the ability to transform himself into a large dark brown wolf beast, though he does not make use of this transformation due to his promise with Serena Dracroy and Roswaal L. Mathers.
