Information |
Idra Missanga (イドラ・ミサンガ) is a former gladiator at the Gladiator Island Ginunhive and a member of Subaru's Unit during the latter's stay on the island who later joined the Pleiades Battalion. He made his debut in Arc 7.
Appearance[]
Idra is a man with rust-coloured hair, golden eyes, and a pleasant face. He dresses in baggy rust-colored jeans, a white undershirt, and a golden necklace. Moreover, he also wears a matching headband and vest composed of purple and yellow designs.
Personality[]
Idra is a socially anxious man who usually stays calm, level-headed, and honest to a fault. However, when he was put into danger at the Gladiator Island, he lied to the other members of his Unit, put up a determined front to look fearless, and attempted to control everyone around him. Despite coming off as a fraud, Idra's wish is to be a man who prevents shame from being brought onto his father and his family. For these reasons, Idra attempts to work hard and repay the debt he feels for those who choose to believe in him.
History[]
Hailing from a small farming village in the northwestern part of the Sacred Vollachia Empire, Idra worked at a family mill that had been around since the time of his grandfather's grandfather. He was entrusted by the territory's lord to manage a local waterwheel built alongside a river in his village, and he was also in charge of milling all of the grains from the village. Although his family was privileged, they chose to help fellow villagers in times of need and acted humble, which Idra learned for himself.
One day, Idra met a man at a travelling mercenary who would come to the village's local bar and came to know him over time, listening to the man's stories and holding a yearning for the lifestyle of those outside his village. The man eventually expressed his interest in Idra's younger cousin, and Idra himself chose to set up a meeting between the man and his cousin out of kindness. This kind gesture was short-lived, as the pair would attempt to steal Idra's family business by falsifying the results of his milling to the village. Although he attempted to convince the village of his innocence, they chose to plant preparations for an insurrection within his home because they prioritized profits that the mercenary and Idra's cousin brought, and Idra was brought to a trial before the village's lord. Failing to prove his innocence without anyone to believe in him, Idra was punished and sent to the Gladiator Island by slave traders.
Trivia[]
- Idra has his own named chapter in Arc 7, in both the web novel and light novels.
