Information |
Izmail (イズメイル) was a member of the Cyclops Tribe. He participated in a battle at the Imperial Capital of Lupugana, but he was slain with a sweeping fire attack from Arakiya.
A few hours after his death, Izmail was resurrected as an zombie during the Great Disaster's emergence in Lupugana, where his body was completely blown away with a dust explosion created by Natsuki Subaru at a flour mill. Later, he faced Subaru once more when he returned to Lupugana, was reduced to dust by Spica, and received acknowledgement from Vincent Vollachia before permanently fading away.
Appearance[]
Izmail was a strong man with a large blue-colored eye. As a zombie, he possesses pale skin bereft of color, various cracks that run across his body, pitch-black sclera, and a radiant golden iris that replaced his sole blue eye. Izmail's form evolved after sustaining lethal damage, causing him to gain tentacle-like fingers, a swelled frame larger than his original physique, and numerous limbs with various lengths that rapidly multiplied across his body.
Personality[]
A prideful and ambitious warrior, Izmail relished honor in combat. He held no favor for people he believed were cowards or fools who desecrated the battlefield and thought of them as enemies.
Abilities[]
Eye (眼, Gan): Like the other members of the Cyclops Tribe, Izmail possessed a single eye with multiple abnormal powers. Notably, this allowed Izmail to “switch” his sight and perceive the emotions of people on the battlefield in colors. Individuals with a strong fighting spirit had a red light, those who were abundant in anxiety had a yellow light, and those who harbored panic or fear had a blue light.
Equipment: Izmail wielded an enormous and ardently forged battle axe that was taller than his own body. He carried the axe on his back and used it to eliminate his foes on the battlefront. According to Todd Fang, Izmail's skill was so great that he had the potential to become a Second-Class General in the Imperial Army.[1]
Trivia[]
- In the web novel, Izmail initially survived Arakiya's fire attack at the cost of his left arm and encountered Todd Fang, who used a black powdered spice to temporary blind his one eye. A shell from a Magic Stone Cannon proceeded to kill him. When Izmail was ressurrected as a zombie during the Great Disaster, he was fueled to persist fighting because of his hatred for Todd.
- Izmail is the only character who has been illustrated despite not having an official design; at the end of Volume 34, a character design illustration themed around AI art generation drawn by the series' illustrator contained four unofficial designs for Izmail. Each of them depict a different interpretation of how Izmail could look, with the first depicting a young man with light-colored hair, the second depicting a monstrous man with a mohawk, the third depicting a long-haired man with earrings, and the fourth being a cartoonish depiction.
