Meckart Karsten (メッカート・カルステン) is Crusch Karsten's father and the former head of House Karsten.
According to Otto Suwen, it is rumored that Meckart has left his retirement and is currently carrying out services following the successful Subjugation of the White Whale,[1] coinciding around the time when Crusch's memories were erased by the Sin Archbishop of Gluttony.
Appearance[]
Meckart has amber eyes. Despite trying to look dignified with his eyes, his drooping eyebrows and gentle looks prevent it. Unlike his wife, Helena Karsten, he has nothing in common with his daughter except for their eye color.
Personality[]
Much like his daughter, he is a highly loyal, honest, and dutiful man. However, in contrast to her fiery traits, he is a much more mild mannered individual who often errs on caution. That said, his convictions are no less weaker than Crusch’s which makes his disposition more well rounded than her.
He is often seen under a lot of stress, due in part to his daughter’s behavior despite her position, as seen during a conversation with Ferris.

Around the time of his daughter’s 17th birthday, Meckart was conflicted about how to get his daughter to attend her party while wearing a dress and acting as a noble daughter’s should, not wishing her to be looked down upon or mocked for her demeanor and habit of wearing men’s clothing. He stated his concerns to Ferris, and soon after, he witnessed a mock duel between Crusch and Prince Fourier Lugunica. When Fourier won and managed to get Crusch to concede to wearing a dress, Meckart was grateful to him.
On the night of her birthday, however, a village in the duchy was under attack by the Great Rabbit. Deciding to leave his daughter in the dark about the attack, he led a unit to confront the great witchbeast and save as many people as he could. Contrary to his wishes, however, Crusch found out, and she found her way to the battle, where she successfully managed to drive it away, which would end up earning herself the nickname “The Valkyrie”. After this incident, Meckart retired and passed his title onto his daughter, entrusting her his duties.
After the Subjugation of the White Whale, it is rumored that Meckart has returned to his post to assist his memoryless daughter in running the duchy.
