  • Hello, everyone.

I am very confused about the Puck was a human before transformed into a spirit. I check the Japanese Wiki, and it stated the same conclusion based on Arc 4-72 [BADEND1、5、11].

I want to know is this wiki's source the same with the Japanese one?

I checked the Arc 4 -72, and just found Puck said itself that it has long arms and legs and a hand-looking face which was like a human. But no word mentioned Puck was a human.

    Can anyone help me?

1 day ago by Emilia x SubaruReply Angelo Gabrini Look at the exchange between Petelguese and Puck above that

1 day ago by Angelo Gabrini Emilia x Subaru Beet: “Your tempo feels to HHAAVVEE CHANGED. For a spirit, you stink of human.”

    Puck: “—Yeah probably would.”

Puck rubs his little hand against his pink nose, smiling cynically.

Puck: “This's what I'm like now, but before my arms and legs were just a little longer, and if you can believe it my face wouldda been handsome. When my daughter's that cute, don't you think

    that' s only natural?”

    Beet: “...Your statements AADDDDLLEE ME.”

1 day ago by Emilia x Subaru Emilia x Subaru You mean this?

But Beet just felt the stink of human, and Puck just said he has Human-like appearance. What Beet said cannot prove Puck was human. What Puck said also can't prove anything. And after Beet said, Beet said what Puck said cannot be understood.

I really doubted Puck was human race. What I can confirm is Puck has human-like appearence and maybe smell of human, you know Beet is a crazy man.

1 day ago by Emilia x Subaru Angelo Gabrini Petelguese isn't talking about smell and Puck is agreeing with what Geuse is saying. Just because Petelgeuse can't understand what Puck's saying doesn't mean it's false

1 day ago by Angelo Gabrini Emilia x Subaru Stink is bad smell. The original Japanese is "精霊にしては、人間臭い", "臭い" means stink and "人間" means human, so he talks about stink rather than human.

And Puck just accepted that he has some stink of human(human's bad smell), but it doesn't mean he was human. And he used "probably". If he was really a human, then this word will be not used.

It is so vague to say Puck was human based on this. Literally, "stink of human" mostly describe Puck feels more like a human rather than a spirit at that moment.

1 day ago by Emilia x Subaru Angelo Gabrini Separately yes but together they mean something else. Are you running this through Google translate?

1 day ago by Angelo Gabrini Emilia x Subaru https://dic.pixiv.net/a/%E4%BA%BA%E9%96%93%E8%87%AD%E3%81%84

    https://www.weblio.jp/content/%E4%BA%BA%E9%96%93%E8%87%AD%E3%81%84

I check this word meaning using some Japanese original dictionary, and use google to translate its detailed explanation. And it means "smell of human" or "emotion of human(humanity)".

I cannot find any explanation like "you such human with bad smell".

Maybe we need to ask a translator for further information.

1 day ago by Emilia x Subaru Angelo Gabrini "and use google to translate its detailed explanation."

Of course you're not going to understand things using MTL

1 day ago by Angelo Gabrini Emilia x Subaru I just want to point out that "Puck himself was a Human before he was made into an Artificial Spirit by Echidna" in this wiki is too convinced. As a wiki, as far as possible, without editorial bias, all the significant views that have been published by reliable sources on a topic is important, I think. And this is Wikipedia's guidelines, though here is Fandom wiki.

But if we have some content that is disputed and not convinced and not persuasive, a more reliable wording and description close to the facts is more responsible to readers.

What I can feel from the original story is Puck had a human-like appearance and stink of humans, but I cannot confirm Puck was human based on this.

1 day ago by Emilia x Subaru Angelo Gabrini You're not going to get anywhere as long as you're using MTL to try to prove your point. Just stop

1 day ago by Angelo Gabrini A FANDOM user I am not talking about my MTL explantion. I really wish I didn't mention it.

This is what you said before, you used the "seems like" wording, not "was". There is big difference how readers understand two wordings. And when discussing Puck, there are many people who cannot be convinecd "Puck was human". What the source cannnot make us be sure that "Puck was human", I don't mean "he was not human", I just mean "it seams like he was a human".

I have posted the English translated version (not MTL and it was transalted by Anon, a human) on my first reply. It stated "stink of human" not "human", and Puck answered "probably", which cannot be the conclusive evidence to confirm "Puck was human". Also I understand Chinese and read Chinese version too, I get the same conclusion.

Maybe this translation was wrong, then if you have more accurate version as conclusive evidence, you can post it.

At the end, I will try to contact Anon to get more accurate translation.

    Please don't delete comment.

1 day ago by A FANDOM user Angelo Gabrini "This is what you said before, you used the "seems like" wording, not "was""

I have no idea what you mean by this. Also, you're the only one making a big fuss about this

The translation you're using clearly states at the beginning in the usual disclaimers that there'll be mistakes, etc. You're confused because what you want to see is a direct confirmation in text that Puck is human

Just to give you the benefit of the doubt, I went back and reread the section in Japanese and also plugged the word in question in the translator, and I don't see any problems

23 hours ago by Angelo Gabrini Emilia x Subaru Sorry, I forget to delete this sentence.

I have used email to contact this translator, maybe he can find more.

If I have further information, I will comment here.

And if you have another translation version, please post here to make me convinced "Puck was human".

23 hours ago by Emilia x Subaru Angelo Gabrini It wouldn't matter what I post because all you want to see is confirmation in text, which isn't what's happening here

23 hours ago by Angelo Gabrini Emilia x Subaru If what Beet said is "you human with stink" and what Puck answered is "yes" without "probably" tone, I will shut up. But what I see cannot be understood as "Puck was a human", it is can only say "It seemed like Puck was a human".

In a wiki page, many newbie saw this and they will just understand "Puck was human" as "Puck was absolutely human", this is not responsible to readers.

So I want to check what the original Japanese means.

If the author said "Puck was human", etc in Q&A, or you have other ways to confirm such "was" tone, I will also shut up now.

23 hours ago by Emilia x Subaru Angelo Gabrini "So I want to check what the original Japanese means."

Then do so but without MTL

23 hours ago by Angelo Gabrini Emilia x Subaru Yes.

23 hours ago by Emilia x Subaru Emilia x Subaru I rewrite this comment.

I asked this question on reddit, and got this answer. And by what he/she said, I don't think you can state "Puck was human" by this evidence.

You can get more information by checking those kind persons' comments.

20 hours ago by Emilia x Subaru Emilia x Subaru Please see the above comment, I rewrite it.

55 minutes ago by Emilia x Subaru Angelo Gabrini Just a reminder, unofficial links are not allowed on the wiki

Second, of course you're going to get that answer if you only quote half of the entire exchange. Nowhere did I say that I was basing my answer on that one sentence

Edit: This is getting pretty long, if you want to continue it then post on my wall

24 minutes ago by Angelo Gabrini Emilia x Subaru It's mentioned in Arc 4 chapter 72, though I don't know if this was changed in the light novel. Petelgeuse mentions that Pack seems like a Human, which the latter agrees to, mentioning that he used to have longer arms and legs along with a handsome face

You write this on here on 05:24, January 29, 2018.

I have found the detailed explanation of the sentence. And it cannot support the statement in wiki. If you have more evidence to support the statement " Puck himself was a Human before he was made into an Artificial Spirit by Echidna", you can post to make readers understand.

By what we have discussed, I think at least you should use "Puck himself seemed like to be a Human before he was made into an Artificial Spirit by Echidna" to be more responsible to readers.
