Mimi Pearlbaton (ミミ・パールバトン) is one of Anastasia Hoshin's followers and is one of the three vice captains of the mercenary group known as the Iron Fang. She plays a supporting role in Arc 3 and Arc 5.

Appearance[]

Mimi has aqua green eyes and long orange hair which she ties into two tails. She has orange cat ears along with a tail and wears a white robe. After the Battle for Priestella, she received a large scar on her chest from when she defended Garfiel from Theresia van Astrea.

Personality[]

Mimi has a bright and optimistic personality with straightforward intentions. Unlike her brothers, she talks in third person. She typically acts like a child, often causing problems for her brothers Hetaro and Tivey. She considers the other members of the Iron Fang to be family and loves them, referring to Ricardo as their father, though as it's her own unique way of loving others it tends to cause problems especially for her brothers.

Mimi is one of the few people who never had any intentions of betraying or killing Natsuki Subaru throughout the series. As of the beginning of Arc 5, she has developed feelings for Garfiel, leading her to drag him around Priestella and claim to "feel weird" while blushing when he patted her head.

Mimi has shown a matured and rational side to her, offering to comfort the crying Garfiel after the latter found out about his mother’s amnesia, as well as suggesting to the feisty Garfiel that they should escape rather than engage Theresia and Kurgan head-on.

History[]

Kararagi Girl Meets Cats and Kararagi Girl & Cat's Eye[]

Sometime in the past, Mimi, Hetaro, and Tivey were abandoned by their parents and were taken in by Roshi Pearlbaton. Mimi and Hetaro attempted to rescue Anastasia, but they were incidentally captured instead by Razcrew. Razcrew planned to sell them on the slave markets in the north of Kararagi. However, his plan was thwarted, and he ended up being enslaved himself. Before Ricardo could meet his end by Shiroro, Mimi quickly rescued him, the fight ended in a draw, as Shiroro did not intend to involve harming children. After the fight, she and Ricardo stopped and defeated Reisel. After the defeat of Reisel, Anastasia vowed that if anything happened to Roshi, she would take the Pearlbatons under her care.

Eventually, Roshi made a kamikaze attack while on a mission, blowing up with an enemy in the process. A funeral was held for him, and Mimi cried afterwards, which only Anastasia knew. Ever since, the siblings have lived with the Iron Fang under Anastasia and Ricardo's care.

Kararagi Reaper Incident[]

Sometime after the Battle for Priestella, the Pearlbatons returned to Banan in Kararagi. However, at some point after the events of the Great Disaster, the Slasher, Zarestia set a windstorm on the town, destroying half of it and raising everyone in town sans Ricardo into the sky - an event that would be remembered as the Shinigami Disaster. Believing Ricardo to have stolen her Light Sphere, the two confronted each other, worrying the Pearlbatons. However, after withstanding all of her attacks, she stopped attacking him, made the windstorm dissipate, and lowered everyone to the ground.

Abilities[]

Divine Protection (加護 Kago): Mimi has the Divine Protection of Trisection (三分の加護 Sanbun no Kago), which she uses in conjunction with her brothers Hetaro and Tivey. It enables them to bear each other's physical and emotional burdens and can also be used to split damage between them such as to block death blows. However, as Mimi is the strongest out of the three, her brothers are often stuck with bearing her burdens. In addition, they can launch a destructive interference wave using the Divine Protection and the other siblings, though Mimi is limited to five times and Hetaro and Tivey are limited to two times, so the maximum usage per day is four times.

Roaring Wave (咆哮波): The triplets unleash a burst of a violent destructive mana from their mouths together. Only two of the three of them can do it at a time. This ability was learned from Ricardo as he is the originator of that ability.

Magic (魔法, Mahō): Mimi is adept at Earth Magic and shown to conjure a magical wall of earth and other spells. She also has access to Water Magic.

  • Healing Magic (治癒魔法): Mimi can use a simple application of healing magic to heal the wounds of herself and others. She used this during the battle against the White Whale to heal soldiers' wounds.
  • Multi-barrier:
    Mimi summon Multi-barrier
Mimi is capable of producing a dual-layered, wind-based barrier that can block physical attacks. However, the barriers can be shattered with sufficient force, as in the case of Theresia van Astrea.

Trivia[]

  • According to the author, Mimi's birthday is May 5, the same as her brothers Hetaro and Tivey.
  • Mimi is the strongest of the 3 siblings.
  • The illustrator had an idea for Mimi's liger, but it was later scrapped for being "too cute" and revised to be a normal dog.
  • According to the author, both Ricardo and Anastasia tried to teach Mimi to get her to say "I" instead of saying her own name when she's talking, but they couldn't get her to do it, so they gave up on it.
  • In 2014, the author stated that Mimi was among nine known characters introduced in the story up to that point who had the highest capacity for holding mana. However, he chose to not rank Mimi or any of the other listed characters in order.[1] It is unknown if the list has changed since then.
  • Erica Mendez, Mimi's English voice actress, also voices Puck and Petra Leyte.
