Muspel (ムスペル) is the Stone, one of the Four Great Spirits. It was said to roam freely within the Sacred Vollachia Empire, but in actuality, the spirit was secretly granted convicts to use as anchors by Vollachia and distributed across the country to provide a number of regions with its benefits.
Muspel and its mana were used in the Great Disaster by Sphinx to revive undead throughout Vollachia. In an attempt to delay the destruction of the Empire, Muspel was devoured once again by Arakiya. Although the power of Muspel ought to have burst Arakiya, with a strike of Cecilus Segmunt's Dream Sword Masayume, she assimilated the Stone with herself.
Personality[]
Muspel is thought to have no will, words, or philosophy,[1] and appears to exist solely as a deific being. Records from the Empire state that Muspel moves on a grand scale every 12 years, leading to various earthquakes after its movement.[2]
However, when Arakiya devoured the rest of Muspel, the Great Spirit temporarily gained a sense of self-preservation, which resulted in Arakiya’s uncontrolled rampage in the Imperial Capital.
History[]
Some time around the events of Vollachia's most recent Imperial Selection Ceremony, Vincent Abellux found a method to trap Muspel within its territory. By using Muspel's power, he was able to repel the attacks against his castle ordered by one of his younger half-sisters, Lamia Godwin. Later on, when Prisca's life was in danger due to Lamia's artillery, Arakiya devoured a small portion of Muspel in order to defend her princess.
According to Vincent, at least throughout his time as emperor, convicts were used to connect to Muspel and preserve its connection to the Empire.
Abilities[]
Magic (魔法, Mahō): Muspel is capable of using earth magic.
- Restoration Magic (復元魔法, Fukugen Mahō): A type of magic that can recover objects to their original state.
Great Power: As one of the Four Great Spirits, Muspel has a tremendous amount of power. Its power is embedded into the very earth of Vollachia, allowing for fertile lands to exist. On the other hand, precisely because its power is so deeply connected to the country’s lands, if its connection was suddenly removed, Vollachia would cease to exist, and the land would become uninhabitable. Similarly, though it is possible to make a contract with humans, its power is so great that it robs its contractor of their mind. In fact, it has been stated several times that Arakiya, who had devoured the Stone on two different occasions, should have exploded from the sheer amount of power flowing through her body.
