Palladio Manesque (パラディオ・マネスク) was an Imperial Prince of the Sacred Vollachia Empire. During the Imperial Selection Ceremony, he partnered with his younger half-sister, Lamia Godwin, to defeat Vincent Abellux. He fell to Prisca Benedict's Yang Sword near the ceremony's end.
In Arc 8, Palladio was resurrected as a zombie during the Great Disaster, marked several people with his Evil Eye, and served as the commander of the undead army's forces on their siege of Garkla. He was finished off by Todd Fang.
Appearance[]
Palladio was a man with long, wavy green hair. His Evil Eye was located on his forehead. As a zombie, he possesses pale skin bereft of color, various cracks that run across his body, pitch-black sclera, and radiant golden irises.
Personality[]
Palladio was a timid and foolish person who lacked the intelligence and supporters to make the most of his Evil Eye throughout the Imperial Selection Ceremony.[1] He was unable to realize that Lamia had planned to use him and his abilities as an asset to help dispatch Vincent and Prisca,[2][3] and he believed that he could defeat her when it was impossible for him to do so.[4]
History[]
Palladio was among the eleven children of Drizen Vollachia that possessed the qualifications to use the Yang Sword, earning him the right to participate in the Imperial Selection Ceremony. He made an alliance with Lamia to kill their brother, Vincent Abellux, on the condition that she give away a body part of hers for him to pursue her with if their plan succeeded. At the beginning of Lamia's assault on Vincent's castle, he briefly spoke to Prisca, and she swore to take his head. After the attack failed and his alliance with Lamia crumbled when Prisca killed her, Palladio retreated to his castle.
Two months after Palladio and Lamia failed to take Vincent's life, he was confronted at his castle by Prisca, who came to fulfill her promise of taking his head. He tried to attack her with his Yang Sword, but Prisca swiftly defeated and decapitated him with her own Yang Sword, turning his corpse into ashes.
Abilities[]
Evil Eye (魔眼, Magan): As a descendant of the Evil Eye Tribe, Palladio's Evil Eye gave him the unique ability to enter the mind of others,[5] enabling him to telepathically communicate with them. The telepathic communication made it hard for one to conceal their emotions, and the more fragile one's mind was, the more obvious their thoughts were. However, this applied to Palladio too.[6] He was also able to track people with incredible accuracy, so long as he possessed a part of a target's body.[7]
Equipment:
- Yang Sword Vollachia (陽剣ヴォラキア, Youken Vorakia): As a member of the Imperial Family of Vollachia, Palladio was capable of summoning and using the Yang Sword Vollachia, otherwise known as the Yang Sword, an ornate crimson sword with light that shines like the sun. The sword appears out of thin air when the user wishes to use it and it cuts and burns whatever the user desires.
Trivia[]
- Palladio has a named chapter in Arc 8 of the web novel. In the light novel, it was adapted as a prologue.
