The Land of Wolves / Death unto the Weak, No Mercy ZERO Nine Divine Generals (狼の国／弱者死すべし慈悲はないZERO九神将) is a Melonbooks shop exclusive limited edition short story that came with Volume 33.
Summary[]
After completing a mountain of paperwork for official documents, Chisha rubs the skin around his eyes and begins lamenting to himself about his incompatibility with the Vollachia Empire's ways. Chisha glances at a nearby window while muttering to himself. Suddenly, the gardens of the Crystal Palace outside of the window has its vegetation ripped out by someone's legs kicking off the ground, only for a vortex of flames to chase after the fleeing man, Cecilus. He taunts the opponent behind him, Arakiya, and she responds by screaming the declaration that she would kill Cecilus. Chisha continues his lament at this scene until Goz arrives and orders the sparring Divine Generals to cease their skirmish and compose themselves. Goz tells off the pair for their lack of self-awareness in response to their excuses. Chisha chooses to move away from the window and continues pitying himself.
Although Chisha is the Fourth ranking Divine General, he believes himself unworthy of the position he had never desired to receive. He expresses his thoughts to a visitor, Groovy. Groovy tells Chisha to accept that he holds the position. Chisha believes his high position would be unsatisfactory to others, but Groovy repudiates his beliefs, saying that Cecilus's position is the only one which matters. Groovy decided to visit Chisha after hearing about how the garden he tended to was ruined by Cecilus and Arakiya, and he angrily pleads for Chisha to discipline the two. However, Chisha claims there is no position allowing for one to discipline Cecilus, causing Groovy to respond with more rage. In response, Moguro, who accompanied Groovy and sat on the nearby floor, stated that Groovy was being unreasonable since it was impossible to discipline Cecilus. As Groovy attempts to respond with more fury at his friend, Chisha ultimately concurs with Moguro's view and offers to report it to the Emperor. With a bitter face and Moguro's encouragement to accept the proposal, Groovy clicks his tongue.
Asking if it would be better to kill the Stargazer hanging around the Crystal Palace, Olbart begins talking just as Chisha is confronted with another visitor who would give him a headache. Despite Chisha's belief in Ubilk's usefulness, Olbart says he's tortured enough Stargazers to know that this one is not like the others. As a member of the Nine Divine Generals, Olbart was not one who served out of loyalty to the Emperor, but he felt that eliminating Ubilk would make him feel better about doing his job. Despite that, Chisha tells Olbart that he should not bend the Emperor's will. With a rebuttal, the Vicious Old Man evaluates Chisha as the most frightening of the Divine Generals, to which the latter feels surprise at. After claiming that those who were up to the worst stuff were those like Chisha, Olbart departed from the room.
While feeling like the constant consultations he was experiencing in quick succession were becoming troublesome, Chisha chose to rub the skin around his eyes. He audibly laments about how he wished that the others would stop bringing issues that would be difficult for him to communicate directly to the Emperor with. Nearby, a tall man with an elegant figure replies, saying, “Well, ain’t that just ‘cause if His Excellency were willing to lend an ear, it’s unthinkable that it would be for anyone ‘cept General First-Class Chisha”. The man, Balleroy, leaned against the room's open door as he said this. Chisha notes that it was as if fate had linked him with the Divine Generals today, as he had seen each of their members besides Yorna.
Balleroy offers Chisha a chance to relax for a bit, but the latter discerns that Cecilus put him up to the task of asking after the Blue Lightning felt responsible for ruining the garden. After Chisha expressed slight surprise at Cecilus's rare thoughtfulness, Balleroy restates his proposal to go relax for a bit with his flying dragon, Carillon. Chisha says his piles of work need to be complete, and Balleroy responds by apologetically saying that while he wishes he could help, he's never been good with that type of work. While staring at the documents on Chisha's desk, Balleroy scratches his cheek. Finally, Chisha Gold, the man who, alongside Cecilus, was indispensable to the Nine Divine Generals, began to rub the skin around his eyes once more.
