i'm trying to design an infobox template for things such as battles and events, but after like 30 minutes of doing that, it's pretty clear that i have no idea what i'm doing. can you help me out on this? design it like the typical wikipedia battle template please.
there are alot more things that can added to the wiki that i want to add relatng to the demi-human war that would really be helped with a decent infobox template. say a new battle of castour field article.
my bad, i wasnt aware that you disapproved, i just assumed you were indifferent. i'd prefer if you didn't delete my work as a result.
i spent hours on it and sourced everything that needed to be sourced. by all measures, it was a valid article. i dont know why you had to delete it because you feel i slighted you somehow. and please don't tell me the article was unnecessary. it was relevant. it was world building. this is a wiki.
i don't know if i'm the first to say, but that ain't cool.
Missed this discussion - But I honestly really liked the idea myself, it's something that could be expanded on with multiple pages that could encompass other battles in the series. We could merge the Demi-Human War into one, but if Dtousa creates battle pages with the same sort of detail as the one I saw, I think they hold enough information to warrant their own pages.

Major changes to the wiki need to be discussed first before being implemented (like the arc pages). While the wiki is free to edit, you can't really expect to do something like that and expect others to deal with it. It has nothing to do with me trying to spite you
It's probably a matter of preference here, a trade off between conciseness and details. I usually prefer the latter as a reader, but others may not be the same. The argument against just putting them on one page would be some detail would have to be sacrificed to keep the page from being ridiculously long.
If we keep the Demi-Human War on one page though, I think it'd be nice if we could create pages for other major wars/incursions/scuffles described in the series.
@CrystalLampost: I guess it's more of not really knowing what dtousa actually wants to do. It's been a while since I've read Ex2, but how many of these battle pages would be created? How long would they be? It'd be easier to make a decision if I had more information
Also, it'd be preferable if the previous/next battles on the template be placed elsewhere
He'll probably be able to answer more accurately himself, but in EX 2 I think there were 5 distinct battles described. I don't remember them all by name off the top off my head, but there was one in Redonis (or a name similar to this) Plains, Castour Field, Ahiya Wetlands, the one in the Royal Castle and then the one in the Trias territories. I suppose also there's a bunch of miscellaneous ones that aren't really mentioned, especially after Theresia takes up her sword. Some of these probably don't have enough information to warrant being created (like the one on Redonis plains)
As for other battles that could be added, there's some decent candidates like The Black Dragon Subjugation from Battle Ballads, The White Whale Subjugation (And then the following Sloth Subjugation) from Arc 3, Priestella vs. the Witch Cult and the 76th Imperial Selection.
I plan on creating individual pages for each of the five major battles. Dont worry, i can gather enough info for each page and source all of it, although the redonas page may be only a few paragraphs rather than anything big like castour field. I'll be using the battle infoxbox template again, so if something is wrong, please let me know.
i might create a to-do list for other battles. To be honest, a macro view of events such as the white whale hunt would be kind of fun to create, so you can count on that happening.
if you really believe these articles are unnecessary, so be it, but i believe the history of the re:zero world is integral to it's story. Don't worry, i wont create an artcle for everything, like the time julius beat up subaru, only larger events. From now on i'll get your permission for every individual page unless otherwise stated.
also, do i have to recreate the battle of castour field page or can you undelete it? Thanks for providing me the source again.
Honestly, the Castour Field page was pretty good, although it could use cleanup. The problem with references is that things can differ between the different languages, which is why I usually don't care to do so. I'm definitely going to tweak the infobox though as I don't really like previous/next being at the top
Page size was a concern (I was kind of worried that they'd be small articles that didn't need to be there), but the length is good. What are you classifying as a battle?
I only objected to your idea because you didn't really explain to me what exactly you wanted to do (the details, not just a rough idea), and because it would've been a major change that you didn't get permission for. Like I said, only major changes need to be discussed/approved unless me or some other admin objects to something
Yes, the page can be undeleted, and I'll remove the stuff on my sandbox page
Thank you. for clarification, i don't really have a solid idea on what is or isn't a battle. the only seven events i consider "battles" are the 5 major events of the Demi-Human War, the White whale expedition, the battle for priestella, and subaru's campaign against the witch cult in arc 3. count those eight as the ones i'll be making something on. i might have to reread arcs 4 and 5 as well as the ex novels to see if there's anything else worthy. things like subaru fighting the demon dogs in arc 2 or the encounter at the loot cellar dont count in my opinion.
i'm going to source everything using my yen press apple english copy of the books. if you'd like to fact check accurately with a japanese copy, please do so. Thank you once again.
Anything conflict that involve a large number of people is what call a major battle. Something like Elsa vs Emilia/Renhard/Subaru/Felt/Rom in arc 1 or the fight at the end of arc 4 is what consider minor there is not need to add to the page. I think that is a good rule of a thumb.
To add to what Dullblade said, I think to classify something as a major battle, it needs to involve a large enough number of people, and said people need to be organised by say a war plan or intrinsic strategy.
